Lilac hair is here! πŸ’œ

Hello world. πŸ˜€

As you guys may be aware if you have been reading my blog a while I love to dye my hair and my favourite colour is purple (hence the purple hearts :P) So I decided to dye my hair a lilac colour and I lovvveeee it. I have had this colour before a couple of months ago but it faded really quick when I went on holiday, probably the sun or something!? I am just going to go through some steps on how I achieved this gorgeous colour πŸ™‚

This is the before look. I have naturally medium brown hair but I bleach and tone it to get this blonde colour.

| Step 1 |

First of all I got all the equipment and stuff that I needed: Rubber gloves otherwise my hands turn a different colour haha! Mixing bowl and brush, an old towel, a comb, the hair dye & conditioner and it needs to be white so you can achieve the shade you want. I use the semi-permanant dyes from Directions, I usually buy them on ebay for Β£2-Β£3 per pot. They have a wide range of colours, bright and pastels too!

| Step 2 | Mixing |Β

You can put the dye straight onto your hair but I like to add conditioner to it to achieve a lighter shade and it also doesn’t use as much dye so you’ll have some spare for next time you top up the colour. I only used 1 pot of Directions for my hair and a few squirts of conditioner.Β

| Step 3 | Applying the colour |Β

With directions you will need to shampoo your hair and apply the colour onto it when it is still damp, otherwise it won’t take as good to your hair.

I simply apply the colour all over my head with the tint brush and I find it easiest to do this in sections, starting from the bottom of my hair.Β

In the instructions on the hair dye pot it says to leave for 15 minutes, but I don’t find this works very good so I leave it on for 45 minutes-1 hour for best results.

| Step 4 | The result |

After the timer is up I rinse it all out with lukewarm water and style my hair as usual, so in today’s case I just blow dried it dry and straightened it a little.. Okay so I had one of my moments where I like to cut my hair so I ended up cutting in a full fringe again!

So thats how I dye my hair to a pastel colour, I have also done the same with other colours such as pink and blue too!

Have any of you dyed your hair pastel colours? Do you have any tips? Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post. πŸ™‚

Until next time lovelies

  1. You look so cute with lilac hair! Very pretty! I personally have never done pastels, since my hair usually fades to a pastel anyway. Plus I feel like pastels fade faster ~ that’s not good for me xD Haha.
And you definitely look awesome with those bangs! ^o^
